Long Week Last Week

So to update those of you out there, I had my surgery Tuesday morning. Kyle said that I was in for about 45 minutes before the Doctor came out and talked with him. He told Kyle it was the worst infection he has ever seen (which prompted my whole outlook of why do I have to be the best of the worst at things?) but he is sure it was all cleaned out now. I have a check up for the end of September, so we will know better then if it has all been cleaned and how I am healing. I was unable to do much last week, I was in a bit of pain when the pills started to wear down, however this week has started pretty good. A stitch has already fallen out (it had some help) and the swelling is on the way down, but I still have a killer sore throat and I am completely drained of all energy (though at an average of 600 calories a day who wouldn't be drained?).

Last week was a pretty terrible week over all though. We got a call from Mamaz to tell us that Aunt Honey (Mamaz aunt from her mothers side) had passed away. I am not too familiar with her, though I have met her a couple times. Surgery was Tuesday so all was quiet around the apartment, or at least I don't remember anything that day. Wednesday night Kyle step-Grandpa John passed away, we knew it was coming because he had been sick for a while. Saturday morning we learned from Kyle's cousin Debbie that his Aunt Sarah and a few cousins had been in a car accident and were in the hospital, but were OK other than 1 cousin having a broken foot. They were on their way from Utah to California for Grandpa John's funeral. So enough bad luck eh? Well it doesn't stop there. Mamaz called Sunday to tell us that Uncle Andy (Mamaz uncle on her mothers side) passed away through the night. He had been struggling with bed sores (he was a quadriplegic) and phenomena for a few months now.

Mamaz told me that it was OK to make jokes about death because it brings out the awkwardness in people and it is how I deal with things. So all I could say Sunday was, death comes in 3's and since Kyle and I have seen 3 in one week I think we are good for a while. As for how I am feeling, it should be another 2-3 weeks before I am completely back to normal and able to do things without almost passing out.

Time Change

So every year I think I can beat the time change and every year I don't. This time I thought I had it, I set my clock ahead Saturday afternoon so that come night time I would think it was that time and cleverly outsmart myself.... Not so much though. It came bedtime, at least the clock said it was bed time but I was not tired, I didn't get to sleep till my regular bedtime. My body doesn't like this change it wants to stay back in winter when it could sleep, not this silly spring forward deal. Oh well at least I made it to church on time, which in the end is the only thing that counts.
The comic is called The Mows. It is a cat comic that I follow daily, pretty funny what cats could think of us.

Apicoectomy

So I thought that I would post some pics to explain what I will have done in March that will hopefully clean up this infection once and for all. Kyle asked me how many root canals I have had on that tooth, since we read online that after 2 this procedure should be the option. The answer is 6, yes that is right 6. I wish it would be something like I went in for so much work I could get something free, braceses lipo..... I am not pixies choosies. Anyways so they will cut my gums where they meet my lip as the infection that I have it right at the edge of my nose. They will peel the gums back and drill into the bone and take out the infected tissue. They will then cap off the root to make sure there are no further problems and stitch up my gums. All of this should take from 60-90 minutes, how fun! I was given the option to stay awake with just the regular freezing needle or to sleep through it....they say there are no stupid questions but that one was! I opted for the sleep. The first picture is a general overview, the second is on a person having it done. Have I mentioned that I really don't want to have this done?

Sugar Updates

So I haven't posted about my little baby Petal faced kitten in a while. She will soon be 2 and I wonder where that time went as I am sure that I have not almost had her for 2 years. Everyday I learn more and more about her and her strange ways. Recently she has gotten into eating human food. She has never been into what we eat, never. She sits at the table with us at dinner and we chat with her and make he part of it, she demands to be offered dinner though she has never to this point liked it. It all started when Kyle and I started eating a salad with every dinner, Kyle would put Catalina dressing on his and then get up to put the dressing away and before you knew it Sugar would be sitting on his chair eating his salad. We found this quite amusing. So what else does she eat? Well she has always loved mint anything as well as pork and chicken, but never much of anything else. However now she LOVES nerds, we keep a small container of them on the table for an after dinner snack and she loves them. I also found out, by process of leaving the table, that she loves pancake syrup. I put some on my plate for my pancakes and bam she is all over that. She has also fallen in love with my princess blanket, which I gave Kyle to use till I made his but he no longer gets to use it as she hogs it all at the end of the bed every night. She also has recently liked sitting in a bag and being carried around, I get a good laugh at this because Mamaz always wanted a purse pet but her cat is some sort of devil spawn and would probably kill you if you were ever to attempt putting her in a bag. In a couple weeks I will be spending a week at my parents place with Sugar and Onyx and Gunner so we shall see if she has changed her mind about dogs....though I seriously doubt it.

The only thing I miss is her being just a little bean when we first got her, now she is a big cat and loves to take up too much of the bed. Plus when she was small she would cuddle better, now she just wants cuddles when it is good for her.

Kyle's Quilt

So Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I have not an idea of what to get Kyle, however yesterday I had the most awesome idea. He bought material a while back to make a quilt for himself (he is currently using my Disney Princess one which isn't as manly as one would like), so why not get a pattern going and make it for him for a gift. Excellent idea right? Well I thought so at least. I spent all day Thursday going over and over plans and patterns before I could fit a skull on a 2 yard by 2 yard quilt backing. Hours of math and drawing and coloring. Finally I made it fit, I had success I could do this. I knew if I played around long enough I could do it and I did. *Pats on the back* So now to lay out the material, first fold the 1 yard by 8 yard brown material into a 1 yard by 2 yard rectangle, easier said then done. My living room really isn't big enough for my projects (I tend to go overboard, you know go big or go home). So after an hour of making the brown flat and nice and folded I start on the white. The white has been pre-cut into strips to be cut down into squares for the quilts I was making for the holidays but I ended up having left overs. So Kyle had said to me before he wanted it left in strips and then sewn together from that. So I folded each strip down to the size it was supposed to be, taking FOREVER to measure and put out in the right place. Finally after a whole day of working it was complete, and I must say a master piece.

Look at it, it is simply amazing. Kyle was going to love this, my time isn't a waste. Well again that's what I thought. Kyle came home looked at the layout and said, no that's not really the look I am looking for. I was in a good mood as I was going to basketball that night so I didn't kill him right there. I asked how I could better catch the look he was going for, apparently he wanted the skull more rounded and it in general wasn't great looking. So how could this get worse? I went to basketball thinking that I could brainstorm out some ideas and go back to it today and make adjustments to it to better suit Kyle. But I came home to this site.....

I guess she heard her Daddy say he didn't like it so she made sure he didn't have to look at it anymore. I couldn't believe she had completely destroyed an entire day of work. Oh well I needed to redo it anyways......

Funny Stories

Ok so as far as I am aware I have never posted this story here, though it was funny enough to tell a couple people that I talk to on a regular basis.

It all starts October 13 2007, a Saturday for those of you who need to know. We were having Kyle's parents and Oma and Grandpa Gil over for the first time to see our new place. A very exciting time indeed getting to show off how well we were doing. We got up early since they said they would be over around 9am. We had power cleaned all that week so that everything was just perfect (ladies you know what I mean, expecting a visit from your mother in law), so everything was pretty much perfect and we were just buzzing around making 100% sure everything was good. Kyle was trying his best to make the water jug thing work, we have had it for 3 years now and it still doesn't work. Anyways I am really busy and so is he and we aren't paying any attention till we hear these terribly sad cat cries coming from near the window. I figured it was one of our neighbours cats, most likely the one that is always outside. So I thought nothing of it other than wishing someone would help such a sad cat. After 10 mins of crying I couldn't take it anymore, I needed my cat to make me feel good about how great a care taker I was. I called and called and shook some treats and nothing. Now this is weird as Sugar is immediately at my side if I call. So now the cat is crying louder I walk over to the window upset by my own cat no longer loving me only to see no cat outside. And the cry was muffled. I call Kyle to come listen and he said it sounded weird. Yep you guessed it, twas Sugar. But now where was she to be making such a noise? Well my friends Kyle had lifted the water jug base and put it down not paying attention in his rush and she had gone under there and for the hour that we were trying our best to clean she was stuck under the water jug thing. I still laugh at how silly that whole thing was, like something in a sitcom. An after note, she never goes near that water thing anymore.

How about one about Kyle's little sister? We were at his parents house over the holidays and I was working on the computer trying to do my year end budget stuff when Lindsay enters the computer room. She asks what I am doing, I explain that I am doing my budget. Your budgie she replies. I laughed so hard and answered yes my budgie.

And now about me. I have always been into conducting my own science experiments, much to the dislike of Mamaz who had to usually clean them up (IE the time I wanted to know what happened to bread in a bag of water, I forgot it after a week and Mamaz caught it and threw it out before it was to explode in my room). Anyways I was told as a child, like most children, if I swallowed my gum it would take 7 years to come out and that I would be sick. So as to prove once again Mamaz was lying I took to eating gum. Now this part was not as a child, but rather just a year before I got married. You see the Christmas before our wedding Kyle gave me a big bulk barn bag full of my favorite gum, Double Bubble. So I would eat maybe 3 to 4 pieces a day, and for those of you who aren't aware of said gum it is bright pink. Imagine my delight when just a few days in I look in the toilet and there it was pink poop. Ah it still brings a smile to my face. I got in a lot of trouble for that one and I am now monitored when I eat gum. Kyle thinks that I will eat it again just to be entertained in the bathroom. So in conclusion gum goes through like food but is far more colorful than food.

That last one was pretty bad, though I am entertained by it, it is doubtful that any of you are.

Rant

Ok so I was watching The Drs today. Now I don't make a point of watching this as I am not a big fan of such programs. However today they sucked me in when I seen a picture of a pregnant lady so I watched some of this episode. It was on the medical trends of 09. And this is redic "designer babies", you can choose everything about your baby. Now I am not a mom nor do I think I will be anytime soon so I don't know if I get a say. But to me this is like almost Frankenstein-ish, and what ever happened to the good old days when making a baby was about a drunk night out ending in a forgotten pill and a broken condom? I mean at the very least you had a fun night, not some time in the lab creating a monster. I dunno the old fashioned way has been working for thousands of years, I mean Adam and Eve invented it and look at how it worked for them. Plus in the end it is fun, isn't it? I don't know it seems silly to me but it might not for other people. I laugh at the fact that you ask most pregnant ladies what they want and it is always the same. "as long as it is healthy I don't care", well I guess that is the end of that saying.

Alright and I was watching TV last night and I seen a preview for a movie called Last Chance Harvey, or something like that I don't remember movies that don't seem like a movie I like (IE Disney Princess). It is about a guy and girl who seem to be at the same place at the same time and never notice each other until one day they do notice each other and they presumably fall in love. I was thinking about it and about Kyle and I and our whole story. How could we have gone almost a year without ever noticing each other more than to know each others first names and that we were in the same church. How much do we miss when we aren't fully aware of what we are looking at? I mean Kyle talks all the time about the fact that all through his life it had always been about a Laura with red hair and yet he never noticed me. The sparks were there, the electricity was strong but I don't know, we lacked the sight we needed to see everything. It is funny once we met, I mean really met, it felt like we knew each other forever. It was a perfect fit, everything he searched for as Kyle would say. I wonder how many times we were in the same place at the same time without knowing it, I mean once we got together we realized that our mothers shopped at the same places and such when we were growing up. Anyways I just wonder what else I have missed in life because I just didn't see.

Christmas

So this year will go down as like the funniest Christmas ever. It all started Christmas eve when Dad decided to reinact Frosty, Rudolph, and The Grinch while we watched the movies. Tres funny. Then came Christmas morning where Dad said he no longer believes in Santa because there wasn't a puppy under the tree for him (he did get lots of nice presents but that didn't seem to matter much). Jokingly Mamaz and Dad said that all of our presents would need to go back so that they could put money in the "puppy fund", well it was only a joke but after opening all of our presents we have a whole pile of things that need to go back to the store for multiple reasons, the best being that Mamaz bought J-Potty perfume that ended up being for men..... SO what did Laura get? Well I happen to have a list.

-The Little Mermaid dress up doll, Nintendo DS, Brain Age (1&2), Meteos Disney Magic, Underwear and Tank Top Set, 2 Pink Nail Polishs, Mascara, Eye Brow Mirror, 120 GB Ipod, Ipod cover, FM Transmitter for Ipod, Aeropostle Shirts, Knitting Books, Knitting Needles, Yarn, Owl Picture Holder, Jewelery Box, SubWay Card, Pink Sweater, 2 Body Butters, Royal Doulton December Doll, Knitting Loom, The Little Mermaid 2 Special Edition, Foot Scrubber, White Sweater, Sex and the City dvd, Shampoo, Conditioner, Cookbook, Dish Cloths, Office Calendar, Lilo & Stitch Complete Set dvds, Fa Bath Set, Legend of the Lamp book, Who Flung Dung book, Little Mermaid Small Candy Locker, Face Scrub, Duvet, Glass Christmas Box, Killian's Red Ale Beer Shirt (it's a family history thing...Kyle also has a matching one), Socks, 2 Sets of Ear Rings, Little Mermaid Ring and Necklace Set, Special Daughter Charm for Bracelet, Big Sister Necklace, Aeropostle Sweatshirt, Burts Bees Chap Stick, Slippers, 2 Dress Scarves, Some Money, 2 Britney Spears perfumes, Paris Hilton CanCan Perfume Gift Set, and LOTS of Chocolates and Candies.

All in all a good year I would say.

Christmas Countdown

So we are cutting it close to the wire this Christmas as we decided to make presents for my family this year and the pants didn't even get started before they failed. We were told 2 yards of material would be enough but it clearly wasn't, however my mother in law bought more material and it is now waiting at her house for us to arrive and sew it before Christmas (time frame you ask? we are with my parents doing the party scene DEC 19-23, then at my in laws 23-24 back to my parents for Christmas day......I hope I have enough time, we are told it is like half an hour of work for 1 pair). Anyways the quilts are going OK, except for a small math problem that left me short on white for JPotty's quilt (but I talked to her and if I don't get more white in time she said she would wait for a quilt).

So what else could I handle at this time of craziness???? I started a new nail care routine, though in all fairness Kyle pushed it on me since I am a picker and I hardly have any skin left around my nail, and that "glue" as he calls it (the half skin half nail at the side of the nail) is completely gone. More often than not I have band aids all over and my fingers are a gross shade of blood stain pink inflamed skin and purple infection. So new nail care routine, and he knew how to get me to do it too, he spent $40 on the kit so now I feel bad if I don't use it ($40 was the sale price, it was $70 American but we also got a second kit for free). I also started a new bedtime routine of taking care of my lips as they also are lacking on the skin area. So they are pretty much better thanks to slathering poly lip stuff on every night after brushing my teeth. So what else? I have also decided that since I was on such a great track in November and lost crazy weight I shall continue, this month I am not loosing like last month so I am doing some Wii Fit and Pilate's. Last month I completely lost my appetite and ended up eating either 2 English muffins with margarine or 1 blueberry begal with margarine the whole day. In 1 month I have gone from my size 7's being SUPER small to my size 3's being comfortable. Right now for me it is getting rid of flabby belly skin than loosing more weight. So yeah I am kinda going to need a vacation by the time Christmas rolls around, but I will look great.

Once Christmas is over I will post pics of the quilts and pj pants as I am not sure if the people who are getting them read my blog.
